Construction glass-fibre fabrics and non-woven materials
Technical fabrics › Construction glass-fibre fabrics and non-woven materials
Construction glass-fibre fabrics and glass filament mats are woven or non-woven materials of E type glass containing aluminium, boron, and silica with different types and density of fabric.
Such fabric is intended for maintenance of thermal insulation for various branches of industry. It accounts for one of the main components for production of glass-reinforced plastics and is also used for production of components of vehicle bodies, yachts, boats, flight technique, technical tanks, sports requisites, and etc. Wide range of weaving patterns provides end-user with a possibility to select material with the best performance, cost-efficiency, and flexibility.
Characteristics:
- Stability: glass-fibre is an engineering material of stable form. Glass-fibre does not elongate or shrink at extremely high or low temperatures. Largest elongation till breakage accounts only for 4.8 %;
- It does not absorb humidity and does not change physically or chemically under the action of water;
- It features high strength in relation to minimum weight;
- Fire resistance: glass-fibre material does not ignite, it features non-flammability, retains roughly 25 % of its initial strength at 540 °C;
- It features great anticorrosive characteristics, high chemical resistance, antimagnetic and dielectric characteristics, and at the same time strongly interacts with epoxy and polyester resins;
- Operating temperature ranges from -200 °C to +550 °C;
- It characterises with great thermal conductivity;
- Density amounts for 0.18 g/cm3.
Use:
Glass-fibre fabric is the best choice for insulation of pipework, flanges, valve covers, expansion vessel connections, and heat shields. It is also used for production of common and non-standard welding and furnace curtains, including production of emergency fire protection blankets.
